Upcoming Events of Interest

Hello Melbin Geek Girls,
Thanks to everyone who made our first dinner a success. We now have a few upcoming events to let you know about.
If you haven't already joined the Geek Girl Dinner Melbourne Facebook group, I encourage you to do so as it's a nice central place for organising events, plus people have started sharing photos and other info they think Geek Girls may be interested in. Rock!
Now, on with the events!

Sunday, 29 June 2pm - Ice skating at Docklands.

Two hour session costs $18 including skate hire.
Venue and cost details available here.
Anyone and everyone welcome, including kids and friend geek guys. :)
Just show up, or see the Facebook group for details on how to get in touch with us.

Thursday, 3 July, 7pm - Geek Girl Dinner 1.0, Kanzaman Restaurant, Richmond.
This will be a $40 banquet style meal (includes dessert and coffee). Yes, expensive but I can vouch for the food - I celebrated my 30th there a couple (ahem) of years ago. :)
Please don't RSVP here - you can do that at Facebook.

Saturday, 6 July, 3.30pm - Charity screening of Serenity, Kino cinema, city.
This is *not* a Geek Girl event, but Jessica suggested Geek Girls might be interested and I agree. :)
If any Geek Girls are interested, let me know and we can meet up on the day.

Tix: $15 at the door, $12 if pre-booked. Proceeds to Equality Now.
Full info on the venue and the charity are available here.

Any questions?
If you're really allergic to Facebook and you wish to enquire about any of these events, leave a comment here with your contact email and we'll get in touch with you.

Hope to see you at a Geek Girl Melbourne event soon. :)

Sarah

First Melb Geek Girl Dinner 29 May - be there! :)

Hi there & welcome! Anne-Marie and I would like to invite each and every Melbourne geek woman to join us for the first Melbourne Geek Girl Dinner on Thursday, 29 May.
We'll be meeting at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start. Dinner is at 100 Mile Cafe, Level 3, Melbourne Central, 211 La Trobe Street.
This is the first dinner for the Melbourne Group, so we're calling it 0.1 - a planning dinner. The usual format will be an informal dinner with a technical talk by one of the members or guests. The first dinner won't have a speaker, we'll be brainstorming and planning what we'd like to do with the Melbourne group - and most importantly creating a list of the technical women who are based in Melbourne who we'd like to invite to speak at future dinners.
If you'd like to attend, please RSVP to sarah.stokely AT gmail.com by Thursday 22 May. Feel free to contact me with any question you might have too.
Oh and by the way - guys who are interested in coming along are welcome to do so if they have a female geek to escort them. :)
If you're on Facebook, join the group! :)
